Event Information

Anglican Chaplain Mark Laynesmith will be interviewing Prof. Helen King about her new book.

Helen King is Professor Emerita in Classical Studies at The Open University and an elected lay member for Oxford Diocese of the General Synod of the Church of England, where she is chair of Together on General Synod (TOGS) which campaigns for equality and inclusion on a range of issues.

Her recent book, Immaculate Forms, traces the history of women's bodies from the ancient world to the present day, focusing on how medicine and religion have acted as gatekeepers over bodies, telling women what they are and what they can do.

Helen was also Professor of Classics at Reading University.

The lecture will be held at the Van Emdem Lecture Theatre on Thursday 8th May at 18:30 until 20:00.
