Richard Frazier
Richard Frazier is Professor of Food Science at the University and Head of School for the School of Chemistry, Food and Pharmacy since 2021. He was previously Head of Department of Food and Nutritional Sciences for 6 years. His first degree was in Chemistry from the University of Bristol and his PhD was awarded from the University of Nottingham’s School of Pharmacy. Richard has a passion for teaching students and supporting their personal, professional and academic development. He teaches food chemistry to all years of undergraduate and postgraduate study and is an experienced External Examiner of Food Science programmes in the UK and Internationally. His research is currently focused on the study of interactions of plant proteins and polyphenols with biological membranes using a range of biophysical chemistry approaches, including neutron reflectometry experiments at the world-leading neutron and muon source located at the STFC’s Rutherford Appleton Laboratory.
Richard is the elected member of Council representing Senate, of which he has been a member since 2013. He is an active senator, being one of its current representatives on University Board for Research and Innovation, a member of Senate Agenda Group, and a recent Senate member of the University Personal Titles Committee. He brings this experience to Council and seeks to represent the consensus views of Senate in Council discussions, as well as his own insights gained from his current roles.
